Enhanced Weather Monitoring with New Premium Layers and Alerts
Precip is excited to announce several new updates that provide more detailed and accurate weather information than ever before. These enhancements are designed to help you make better decisions about outdoor activities, agricultural planning, and water management.
Live Precipitation Layer
Our new Live precipitation layer offers a more accurate view of current weather conditions. Unlike traditional radar that shows reflectivity, this layer displays actual precipitation rates, giving you a clearer picture of what’s happening in real-time. This makes it easier to track approaching storms and understand their intensity and duration.
Improved Soil Moisture Analysis
The Soil Moisture layer has been significantly enhanced with two viewing options:
- Relative Soil Moisture: This new view allows you to compare soil moisture levels across different locations, regardless of soil type. It’s particularly useful for gardeners and farmers, showing values between the wilting point (0%) and saturation point (100%).
- Absolute Soil Moisture: The original view remains available for those who need specific moisture measurements.
Surface Ponding Detection
The new Ponding layer identifies areas likely to have standing water or puddling. This feature is valuable for:
- Mosquito control districts identifying breeding areas
- Hikers and mountain bikers avoiding muddy trails
- Property managers monitoring flood-prone areas
- Farmers looking to avoid unnecessary trips to fields with standing water
Saturation Depth Analysis
Our new Saturation Depth layer provides crucial information for construction and excavation planning. It shows how deep you can dig before encountering fully saturated soil. Easily visualize water depth anywhere on the map.
Live Rain Alerts
Never be caught off guard by unexpected rain again. The new Live Rain Alerts feature sends push notifications when precipitation is detected near your current location. When enabled, Precip can now continuously monitor your location to provide timely warnings about approaching storms.
Enhanced Time Travel and Playback
Ever want to look back at a particular day’s weather? With our new Historical layer you can select any previous date and playback the hourly precipitation accumulation for that 24 hour period.
